Some flowers just beg to be painted. I’d never attempted bougainvillea before, but this vibrant purple beauty on my back patio was simply irresistible. The color was so striking, I felt like I had no choice—it demanded my attention. I’m glad I answered the call when I did, because not long after, every bloom was gone. I painted this alla prima (all in one sitting), capturing the last burst of life before it faded. If you know any tricks for getting it to bloom again, I’m all ears!
