The rocks on this stretch of coastline glowed with warmth as the sun hit them that afternoon. In Warm Rocks by the Sea, I focused on the color and light dancing across their surfaces, with just hints of water and shore to anchor the scene. Painting en plein air in gouache let me capture the vibrancy and immediacy of the moment while keeping the painterly, loose quality I love.
