This was such a magical scene to paint—full of softness and subtle color. I don’t often use this palette of rose, lilac, and dusk-blue, but it felt just right for the crescent moon rising above the horizon. There’s something storybook-sweet about a crescent moon, isn’t there? It reminds me of fairytales and quiet dreams. This painting is meant to evoke that gentle, enchanted moment just before night fully settles in.
