Gouache on warm tan paper, painted en plein air

When I paint landscapes en plein air, I’m always chasing light. With Gold Washed Trees, that chase led me to a meadow where the sun was drenching trees in golden luminosity—every leaf and blade whispering in green and gold. The trees glow, the meadow hums, and the layered brushstrokes let you feel the breeze, the warmth, the hush just before the day shifts.

I used gouache on paper because I love its softness, its immediacy. It allowed me to work quickly, respond to light and shadow in real time. This is a painting about being present in nature. When you look at it, I want you to feel sunlight through leaves, the peace of open air, and maybe a desire to walk barefoot through grass.
