I painted Lighthouse by the Shore with the sun high overhead, illuminating the rocks and water that surround it. There’s a quiet drama to these midday light scenes—the way shadows fall and color shifts in the sun—and I loved chasing those moments with gouache. My goal was to balance precision and looseness, capturing the lighthouse as both a beacon and a part of its vibrant, sunlit landscape.
